Noteworthy
Please do NOT allow your child to bring money, expensive toys, or items such as toy weapons, guns, swords, etc. to school. This is a necessary school policy which eliminates children's tears and distress caused by possessiveness, breakage, or loss.
For special sharing, encourage your child to tell about an exciting happening, bring a favorite book, share a homemade object, or show something from nature. Please put your child's name on any show-and-tell articles.

DISCIPLINE
Expectations are set according to the age level of the students in the class and in keeping with our school’s Christian philosophy of maintaining the safety and well being of all our students while realizing the uniqueness of each child’s needs in our care.
Teachers foster self discipline through role modeling of appropriate behavior, redirection, and positive reinforcement. In addition, each teacher orients her students to the classroom rules at the start of school and gives verbal reminders to individual students as necessary. In certain situations a child may be excluded from group activities for a short period of time in order to regain his/her self control. (A time-out chair placed within the classroom is generally used.)
When recurring problems arise, on going communication between home and school is essential and sometimes a team consisting of parents, teacher, director and/or other professionals is utilized.
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
Your child's teacher will be available to greet your child a few minutes before 9:00 AM/12:30 PM. Do not bring your child to the classroom more than two or three minutes before class time. NEVER leave a child unattended. Be sure the teacher or teacher assistant knows you have left your child or another child.
Students should be picked up promptly at 11:30 AM or 3:00 PM. Any students NOT picked up by 11:45 AM or 3:15 PM will be in the Day School office. It is distressing for children when parents come late.
It is essential you notify the school in advance (in writing or by phone) of any change in the person bringing or picking up your child. Without prior notification a student will NOT be allowed to leave the school.
SNACKS
Parents will be asked to provide snack on a rotating basis. The teacher will have a schedule for providing snack which will be posted on the bulletin board outside the classroom. We encourage nutritious snacks - fruit, fresh vegetables, breads, etc. (No popcorn). The school will provide milk for snack. Juice will be provided for any child who is allergic to milk. Notify your teacher of any food or milk allergies. Birthdays will be celebrated at school. You may want to send a special snack for your child's birthday. Talk to your child's teacher in advance.
CONFERENCES
Parents of all students should feel free to request a meeting or otherwise discuss their child's progress with the teacher and/or director at any time during the course of the school year.
Conference dates are set aside for Tot Time or nursery students; parents may request a ”telephone” or “in person” conference to discuss their child’s progress at any time. Also, brief progress notes and achievement awards will be sent home periodically to keep parents informed of their accomplishments.
Parent-teacher conferences for our pre-kindergarten students will be held in late fall and again in early spring. These conference times are designed for teachers and parents to discuss your child's development; therefore, it is important that you make arrangements for the care of your child during conference time. We hope everyone will take full advantage of these extremely important times.
ILLNESS
PLEASE do NOT send a child to school with a cold, cough or a fever. If a child is ill, please call the school. The teacher and class will want to know if any member is ill or in the hospital. Please be sure that your child is fully recovered before returning to school following an illness.
